See20/20 urges optical industry to go green
Software provider introduces green initiative to help reduce carbon footprint .
Nov 2007

2 November 2007 Leading practice management software company, See20/20, is urging the optical industry to follow its lead and reduce its carbon footprint. Under the new initiative, the company is introducing a four point plan to encourage practices to reduce their impact on the environment:

1) For every new software system sold in the UK, See20/20 will plant a tree in a protected forest.

2) Since See20/20 is truly web-based, practices can do away with the power-hungry servers traditionally required to back up records - for example a five practice group will require five fewer servers, bringing substantial energy savings.

3) See20/20 will recycle any practice computer equipment no longer needed following an upgrade to the company’s new software and at no cost to the customer.

4) Moving to a web-based system reduces the need to keep hard copies of patient records, meaning less paper is wasted..

More trees, less CO2
In conjunction with Rackspace and the International Tree Foundation, See20/20
will plant a tree for each new software system sold in the UK. A variety of indigenous tree species including oak, ash, rowan and elm will be planted on a dedicated site
in Pembrokeshire, helping offset the CO2 generated by practice servers.
“Everywhere you look, it’s hard to avoid stories about the devastating effects of global warming caused by greenhouse gases,” says See20/20’s Sales & Marketing Director Paul Houston. “At See20/20 we’re determined to minimise our impact on the environment and planting these trees is just the first of a number of initiatives we will be implementing over the coming months,” he added.

About See20/20

See20/20 is the company’s response to a plea for a simple, cost-effective means of viewing business and customer data at the touch of a button. No expensive computer upgrades are required as See20/20 works off the practice’s existing computer system and, by consolidating all practice records in a single source, See20/20 brings significant improvements in communication, customer service and efficiency, all contributing to bottom line profitability.

Founded in the West Midlands in 2003, See20/20 recently attracted a £1million investment grant from Catapult Venture Managers, allowing the company to accelerate its international expansion plans. As a result the company recently launched its software in both Australia and the Caribbean while mainland Europe
and Russia are currently being evaluated.
